Do wearing masks prevent corona virus?

 (1) The aerodynamic diameter of bacterial particles such as bacteria in the air is between 0.7 and 10 μm;

(2) The aerodynamic diameter of droplets produced by human cough is about 1 to 5 μm;

(3) The diameter of the corona virus is about 0.12 ~ 0.16μm;

(Although the diameter of the virus is small, the virus will attach to the droplets in small groups.)

(4) Particle filtration rate: ffp1  block 0.5μm 80%+ rate and ffp2 94%+ rate; KN95 95%+ rate; ffp3 97%+ rate.

Based on the above indicators, we will find that as long as the mask selected can block particles ≥1 μm, 

it can resist droplets produced by cough and effectively prevent corona virus. 

At present, droplet transmission is the main route of transmission of corona virus.

Conclosion:

wearing masks Disposable Medical masks/KN95 / FFP2 / FFP1 can prevent virus spread to different extents. 

Perhaps we can choose ffp2/KN95 or ffp1/disposable face masks and leave FFP3/N95 for doctors and nursing staffs.
